June 28, 1389 – a date written in martyr Christian blood. A superficial understanding of medieval values and life, often caused by modernity, leads people to misunderstand the importance of certain events. The Serbian Christian army stopped the Ottoman invasion at the Battle of Kosovo Field. This is clearly visible from the “great” news that spread to the West about the Christian victory over the Islamic incursion. And indeed, it did stop the advance of the Turks into Europe for some time, giving Europe more time to breathe and prepare. However, this is the less important part of this event. What cannot be easily spread as news is what the Serbian lords actually did on that field that day. Saint Emperor Lazar vowed to exchange his earthly life and earthly kingdom for the eternal one – the Kingdom of Heaven. And the lords and the soldiers followed him. They sacrificed both their earthly honors and privileges (which they would have preserved as Turkish vassals), and all together, they opposed a vastly superior enemy in order to earn their reward in Heaven, that is, to secure a spiritual level of existence in the Kingdom of Heaven. And by such an act, they created a signpost and an inexhaustible source of moral strength for their descendants. It is not common for rich and powerful people to abandon all their accumulated wealth and power and offer their lives to the Lord. But Christian Serbs chose that day. Lazar and his men fell on Kosovo Field, but they ascended to the Kingdom of Heaven. Lazar showed us how to die properly. And this is not only for his Serbian kin, but for all Christianity. We will all be called to leave this world and we all must be ready for it. Today, the holy Serbian land – Kosovo and Metohija, is flooded with Albanian Islamists – the spiritual descendants of the Ottomans. And our entire European homeland today is flooded with various “Ottomans,” while people hide behind their remaining comforts of this world. They do not know that those comforts will soon be eaten away and wiped out. Do not cling to this world, seek Christ and when the time comes be ready for a hard sacrifice for the good of your flock. Every brother and sister in Christ, every church and monastery, every relic and home are yours to protect. Lazar showed Serbs and all Europeans how to die. A meaningful and beautiful death. Every drop of their blood is a seed for future generations. Leave this world and rejoin our Christianity and pray for our European homeland! 🌟 Eternal glory to the martyrs of Kosovo Field – then, now, and in the future!✝️
